What heavy beats and children's songs have in common: our winner's terrace

Nobody, least of all David de Laere from Adegem, could have thought that his purchase of a Harol LX 530

folding-arm awning during our special early-bird promotional campaign in February would bring him and his family a cascade of happiness.

He had reckoned with a discount and a free motor, but not that he would be heading off into the sun for free too.  On days like that, you don't need a stand-up comedian to help you share a big smile with fellow man.  Now, as it turns out, the day he will be calling round to collect his prize is also his son Dylano's birthday! A new folding-arm awning, a discount, a free motor, winning a holiday somewhere warm and your lad’s birthday.

You couldn't make up such a great alignment of the stars, otherwise someone would have thought of making special  greetings cards and garlands to celebrate the occasion. And we didn't find any. So we made a party of it instead.

Just like the kind of party David and his family will be throwing under their new folding-arm awning.

Or almost: after all, we had laid on bubbles for children and for adults. Delicious, but they prefer cocktails. Yes, for the children too. The alcohol-free mojito went down a treat, as did the beats conjured up by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. It's great to see a family that knows what they want. "A black canvas with white stripes, that is extra moisture-proof so that we can enjoy our terrace even when the weather is not so good," says David's wife Nathalie. "Not too many colours, they wouldn't go with our bluestone. The colour on the terrace is made by the people under the awning," adds David with a ready smile. We have no doubt about that. Moreover, Nathalie also organises children's parties at home. Face-painting, crafts, karaoke and pancakes under a Harol awning, it doesn't get more colourful than that.

They haven’t quite decided yet where they’ll be jetting off to: Thailand, Tanzania, Zanzibar,... Anything is possible as long as they can ensure that Dylano and their daughter Imani can experience different cultures. "And as long as there's a swimming pool," Dylano is quick to add. This close family loves sun and warmth. "We are also thinking of getting a terrace heater. We don't want to have to hit the wool just because the sun has set. Life is always frantic and busy, leaving us so little time that when we do get the time to enjoy things, we want to do so for as long as possible," David concludes. That sounds like a great plan and a golden tip for Bjorn Rooze, the specialist from whom they bought their awning. Who knows what felicitous consequences their next purchase might bring...
